Bonnet Release
« on: 18 February 2010, 09:44:33 »

Has anybody got any ideas on how to open the bonnet on a facelift omega. Obviously I've tried pulling the release handle but it's not quite realising the catch. I haven't driven the car for a few weeks so the battery is disconnected and I'm on my own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ideally you need someone pressing hard down on the front of the bonnet while the lever is pulled. Once open, re-adjust the cable http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1256423143

Agreed. :y :y
Before re-adjusting the cable I recommend just re-greasing the mechanism, as I have found that soon sorts the problem ;) ;)

I found yanking the cable immediately behind the lever with a pair of pliers got the bonnet open prior to adjusting per the guide.

If you are on your own then try standing outside of the car, pull the bonnet catch while gently banging on the bonnet on the offside just infront of the windscreen.
Then adjust the cable as described

Thanks Guys
I've managed to get it open & I've adjusted the cable as suggested.
I got it open by pulling the release handle and wedging it in the fully pulled position then a sharp push on the front of the bonnet released the catch fully, job done.
