Tyres
« on: 21 February 2010, 16:05:19 »

Does anyone have any advice as to what tyres suit omega best. I have used michelins for years on many different cars inc about 60K on my omega. When they needed replacing last time. I changed to pirelli, as local tyre depot had a good promotional price on them. Not sure if it is me but there seems more road noise with these. Its nearly time for another set of boots so what do you recommend??

Pirellis are usually noisier IME.
I had Kumhos fitted to the rear of mine just before Xmas, and I think they're excellent - especially for a mid-priced tyre.

I can't see them lasting 60K miles though! :o

we has some michelins that lasted 55k, i had goodyear eagle ventre's that lasted 45k in my hands, about 5 more by previous owner.

Currently got Falkins, fronts done 15k still look like new, they are practically silent!

I had Avons on the front, zvr or something like that.
They caused it to tramline like hell, swopped them for the rears, which are Nexon if I remember which are ok.

I have Kumho Ecsta Ku31 fitted all round and I find them quiet enough and very grippy wet or dry.

afaik Michelin primacy cant be beeten for mileage . Not particularly grippy and certainly not cheap, but if they last that long it justifies the cost at least.

Falkens certainly are quiet, but having owned 452 on 16inch and 912 on 17inch wheels i cant say anything else even remotely positve about them. Rubbish, devoid of diredtional stability,  bump stear all over the place and with the poor grip level they offer they should last 80k, the 912s might have lasted 15k if i hadnt binned them early in disgust. But yes, exceptionaly quiet tyres.
