Is this right?
« on: 23 February 2010, 10:45:06 »

Ive asked before with no reply  :-/

Bottom right of the V6 engine - im think im right in saying this is the climate control pump?

Is it supposed to turn freely?... mines doesnt seem to turn much, if at all, whilst the car is running... i moved it fine with a screwdriver so im guessing it isnt stuck?  :-/

My thinking is that it will incorporate a clutch of sorts that will engage when required and it should just spin freely on the belt when not engaged.

More commonly called the air conditioning compressor. When your air con/climate is on, the compressor should engage the section behind the pulley, if yours is not, I suggest you're out of gas & the low pressure switch won't allow the compressor to engage.  :y

Thanks Andy, kinda understand how it works now, will have to have a better look at it though. Could make sense as the climate wasnt very cold last time it used properly.

2 reasons why i was asking:

1. i have a squeek comming from somewhere, though it mightve been the belt slipping on that

2. i have no hot air comming through my vents lol

But doesnt sound like it'd be anything to do with the both of them  :-/

Drop the aux/fan belt off its tensioner (top left as you face the front of the car) and see if your squeek disappears. Could very well be the belt if its old & hard
