I have spoken to three mechanics now and they all believe that the evaporator is leaking and not the condensor. Previous to this the main delaer had been running the a/c for a day or so, but could find no evidence of an external leak.

Evaporators do fail here as he did show me few that had been replaced, I know they don't fail often in the UK. Exhausts here do not fail very often at all and perhaps these are just difference in the climate.

Also another thing I've notcied is that the air conditioning when running sound like Darth Vader breathing. I don't know if this linked to a failing evaporator. Also the leak is very slow about 4-6 weeks.

Any advice very much appreciated.
