1 min. after filling up with Shell fuel, under hard acceleration, my car hesitates, quite badly....kinda choking !

It doesn't really seem to cough and splutter and after 5-10 seconds or so will pick up and fly off. She does however shudder as she's trying to work through the "problem".

Last week she had ALL the gaskets changed in and around the cam.

Any ideas ?

I don't think it could be the dis pack or plugs but there again...might me wrong.

crank sensor code is 19 ..

he he he...Engine working fine as long as I don't accelarate hard.

Although in fairness the RAC man DID say that code 31 was a general "manufacturers"   code.

if you clip it or read the codes when engine is off you will see 31

I would check the plugs and leads first off. How long have the plugs been fitted?

Good question Kevin.

I've only had her since Nov so not sure when they were last replaced. If the plugs where the culpits would they not start playing up under normal load.

The problem only arises when I floor her !!

Got the expected Code 31 AND Code 12 which doesn't appear in the code lists BUTTTTTTT

I mentioned that I'd had ALL the cam gaskets changed...EVERYONE no matter how big or small.

Well !  I checked out the drivers side spark plugs tonight before it got dark. The front two plugs and holes were full of bloody oil..nearly an inch in each.
The rear one was dry as a bone. Didn't look at the passenger side but suspect oil may well be in some or all of those holes also.  Guess what !!! She's going back to the mechanic.

Either the young lad who did the work didn't clean out the plug holes OR the new gaskets are leaking. Either way, not my problem. They need to sort it.

Although i cleaned out those that I could get at, she's still shuddering so either oil IS in the other bank or the plugs are flubbered.

Did they use genuine GM cam cover gaskets? Pattern gaskets have been proven to be a waste of time.

In addition, the breather system needs to be cleaned out when replacing the gaskets. It's normally blocked breathers which causes them to fail, and, if they are no unblocked, replacement gaskets will soon suffer too.

Genuine parts, purchased by me for them to fit.
I did the breathers about a month ago..clean as a whistle.

Somewhat worryingly, I spoke to them late this afternoon as I told them i'd try to renew the spark plugs myself...especially as the drivers side are easy to get too. The chap said " you'll probably find some oil in the plug holes".

Ermmmmm  WHY ??  That needed to be removed surely...

The "some oil" in question, in two of the 3 holes I checked, had gallons of soddin oil in. Suspect those plugs have had it and possibly some on the passenger side also.

Will need a strong word with them in the morning.
