Hi!

I'm planning to start a HG change on my 3.0 V6 but I have some questions related to the job.
Is it needed to remove the metal coolant pipe from the cylinder block to remove the drivers side head?If needed which kind of tool can I do it (1/4 ractchet with small socket..??) - as I've seen the access is limited..., or  will be come out if I lift up a little bit the head and pull towards the front of the engine without remove the coolant pipe?
Another question is related to the exhaust manifold screws which are screwed into the cylinder head, is it needed to glue these into the cylinder head, or just enogh to screw them into?If I'm right the torque in case of manifold nuts will be 20NM. Anyway I' ve bought ERLING manifold gaskets, what's your opinion about these?

You will need to remove the Transfer Pipe as the Exhaust Manifold will not go past it. An E10 socket is needed to remove the two bolts at the rear.
No need to use glue on the exhaust manifold bolts.
I believe Elring Head gaskets are pretty good :y

coolant xfer pipe needs to come off.

GM exhaust manifold gaskets highly recommended

imo, even changing coolant transfer pipe not easy ..

takes most of the time when changing the ex.manifold gasket ..needs the inside o-ring to be changed also..

Yes you can when the Inlet Manifold & Coolant Bridge have been removed :y

I've already removed... :D, but I couldn't remove the 2 bolts. So I' ve thought it's posssible to remove the head without remove the coolant pipe.Tomorrow I will try to remove the 2 screws somehow.

So you are removing the heads then yes?
Have you dropped the CAT's off the Manifold?
If so remove the passenger side head first (the opposite side to the transfer pipe), which will give you extra room to remove the transfer pipe bolts. :y
When you are refitting the heads fit the transfer pipe side head first, then fit the tranfer pipe before fitting the other head.
Hope that makes sense to ya :y

Heads are on. Cats are removed yes and head bolts are slackened. Thanks I will remove the passanger side head first (it''s not fair because in my case it's the drivers side..HUNGARY... :)). As I mentioned there was not enough room to remove the pipe on the let's say English driver side  The pipe is too nera to the bolt, but I wil try again tomorrow. It's a torx bolt, should I try to slacken 1/4 E10 socket?
Anyway I'm a little bit unsure because of the comments, would you install these ERLING manifold gaskets?

Ok thanks, I will buy genuine gaskets.
Anyway I've found in the maintenance guide section a picture about how should remove the metal coolant pipe, and it seems my attempt was totally false, because I tried to use the ratchet betwwen the pipe and cylinder block (not enough space), but it wiil work if I use an extension bar , and the ratchet will be behind the coolant pipe. :D

A small quarter inch hex socket can help get to the pipe bolts if the cooler pipes are a bit close.

As for the elring manifold gaskets....are they multilayer metal....if yes they will be fine, if they are a metal composite material....file them in the bin
