engine knock
« on: 22 May 2010, 22:15:27 »

I bought a 2.5 v6 petrol omega about 3 weeks ago and too cut a long story short there was a rattle on start up which was the hydraulic lifters.I was advised to do a oil change and to put lifter treatment in and that would cure the problem.Having done that the engine has got worse and now knocks on tick over when warm and tinkles on acceleration.Any ideas what the noise is?

Is there enough oil in it? Tinkling on acceleration is normally pinking due to a timing issue, I'd get the timing belt checked to make sure it hasn't jumped a tooth or two. Both Darth Loo-Knee and I are only an hour from you.
