X25TD fault codes...

This isn't my car, it's a regular customer of mine. Fault was originally blowing the fusable link in the glow plug relay. Fitted 6 new NGK glow plugs today and it still blew the fusable link! Also had a small poof of white smoke from the loom running parallel with the intake plenum. Removed the (not connected) cheapo aftermarket alarm siren mounted next to it to see the bracket had rubbed through the loom tape and bared a wire! All stripped, taped the bare wire and reloomed it. Now got the EML on showing:-

81      Sensor Injection Start Short Or Open Circuit
92      Cruise Control Device Circuit Open Or Voltage High

This is a MY97 CD without cruise! Am I right in thinking the 81 is to do with injector 4? I think further investigation of the loom is needed in case anything has melted and shorted but in the meantime any suggestions?

it could be a short in wiring, have you tested the wires as wire can go some were else on a thin spot in wireing, just a suggestion.

Yup, injector 4 (though can be an issue with pump timing causing the actual injection timing to be out).


The cruise one is normal if no cruise stalk

if the timing is out it either will turn over and over then start or starts first time and rattles and pinks like hell.
I just changed my fuel pump yesterday and noticed the cotter was worn which must have caused 34 to show up
81/82 as tb says is inj-no4

I think it may be a melted wire in the engine loom. They got pretty hot and even melted the coating on the glow plug wire. I'll de-tape the loom and investigate further.

the best of luck then it's going to one hell of a job. I stripped one at the scrapys last year god thats some loom :-[

I have a U25DT engine loom here if you need anything (bit too heavy to post, but if you're passing)....
