Door bump strips.
« on: 25 May 2010, 10:17:12 »

Hello people.

have a problem with the black bump stips that attach to the outside of the doors.  I have a couple where the black plastic bit is coming off and the metal backing is going rusty.  Have spoken to local dealers and they have quoted £57+vat for front door one, complete with metal backing.  My questions are......

Is there another source (cheaper) for these items

Are they easy to completely remove  (believe they are bonded onto the door) if so, what tools would I need, any particular sovent needed to remove the glue residue

many thanks

Roland

Your unlikely to find a second hand one as they all rust like that. I went for an upgrade to the facelift door strips which give the car a nice lift along with a facelift rear bumper( all second hand). If you are lucky you could do all this for the same price as the part you mentioned.

Interesting, how are the facelift strips attached?

You need to drill 2 holes in each door, there is a guide in the  maintenance section. :y
