Driving mirror adhesive patches.
« on: 03 January 2008, 10:46:11 »

SWMBO has just pulled the rear view mirror off her windscreen, and wants it back on (to do her make-up?).
Before I chase up the firm who replaced the screen under insurance recently, can anyone confirm my impression that proprietary patches are less than permanent, and that Super Glue type adhesives can damage the glass in the long term?

I tried one the black double sided sticky patches with my Senator years ago, .... it didn't last the day out. Vauxhall wanted stupid money for a 'glass bonding kit'. I used Locktite Glass Bond and it worked great.

If you go the sticky patch route it may be an idea to clean the surfaces with acetone or similar as it worked on previous fords i used to own  :y
