Omega 2.0 dti Glow plug problem
« on: 10 June 2010, 11:07:01 »

Hi, i have a 2.0 dti, and it has a very common problem that many solves with uncommon methods..

When i start the car with cold engine, it starts just fine.
But if the car stands for 3 hours, its nearly impossible to start.
If i go and disconnect the temperature sensor so that the glow relay kicks in, it starts just fine.

This happens when the temperature is between 0 and 15degrees.

Hi
I suffered similar problems for a year or two. The colder it was, the better it started first thing inthe morning. The glowplug indicator light would not come on when left for two/ three hours but would  when left overnight, it was v difficult to start after first start of day.  I  eventually changed the battery and all was suddenly ok and has been ever since.
Perhaps it is worth jumpering up a second battery  when starting  after being left for 2/ 3 hours?
