Yes, and EGR valve that's sticking or not sealing will give you a lumpy idle.

Is it much of a job to alter the idle speed with Tech 2 ?

Idle should only be controlled via ICV, by no other means. You can use tech2 to alter the EGR but this will artificiality increase revs. Tech2 should not be used to alter idle...

Easy, assuming the actual idle is matching the desired idle

:-/

I think you may be partially confused there, student.

Idle can be adjusted via Tech2. EGR cannot be adjusted, except for interactive diagnostics. Its OK to adjust idle to get it to where it should be (450 with a/c off on a v6).

Thought EGR could be set a certain level, or was that just diagnostics changing rpm  :-/

Could you have a lookie see for me some time please   :)

I think it maybe related to it being ex-plod, they spent a lot of time at idle with a lot of equipment running so the idle has possibly been raised a bit to help with charging as at 500rpm the input from the altenator would be on the low side compared to what is being required  :y

To The Boy, I am a new member "Jabbadad" and have been directed to you ref: My Omega Auto gearbox being adjusted to change into Top at around 45mph to 48mph. It currently goes into Top Gear at 52mph, which is too high for the roads I travel. Can you please help. Jabbadad brian.hunt7@btopenworld.com
