refitting v6 timing belt-help
« on: 29 June 2010, 23:04:38 »

i am refitting a timing belt kit and by mistake the locking tools were removed when the tensioners were slackened and hey presto the cams have jumped- luckily before i started i had taken a photo so my question is ' if i put the cams back to the photo will my timing be ok? or is there some sort of sequence
i have already tried this once and i have ended up with loads of belt slack around the tensioner side.
its a gates belt kit fitted clockwise
  any help! [smiley=sad.gif] [smiley=sad.gif]

Before moving the cams, back of the crank by about 30 degrees (IIRCC) then set up cams and insert locks, then rotate crank back to correct position and lock.

Should be fine though... May need a few attempts at getting things right :y

and make sure that looking from left, the cams are aligned against marks, 1, 2,3 ,and4.  each cam has two markings and you need the right one aligned

as previous post, let us know where you are.  I've been exactly where you are so i know what it is like and an extra pair of hands would be useful
