sick v6 veccy
« on: 05 January 2008, 16:36:35 »

A couple of weeks ago i posted that my brother in laws v6 had started running rough and had destroyed 2 plugs and sounded like the belt had  slipped causing valve contact with the piston....... However the plot has advanced to the fact that the timing has not slipped and no contact was made with the valves. But the fact remained that i had no compression on the No1 cylinder and hardly any on the rear 3 pots, we have now found on removing the heads that No1 has a hole in the piston and the rear bank has suffered from head gasket failure as we can find no evidence of any damage to the valves. So as we have a 3.0ltr engine in the car i am breaking that will be going in as soon as poss. ::)

But what i want to know is what caused it, was it just fatigue, or was is the plug failure that screwed it..What ever it was it was dramatic. >:(

Hi james, no it did not appear to be running lean as the plugs that came out were  dark in colour and prior to failure it was running fine. YOU HAVE PM JAMES FROM ME.,  Regards Gary. :y
