The wheels are one thing, but what Lotus engine would you put into the Omega?

Are there any up-to-date Lotus engines that would make the project worthwhile, or would a latest V8 GM unit be a better choice and forget the 'Lotus' badge? :-/ :-/

What, and spoil the Omega's reputation for mechanical reliability? ;)

Not if the engine were a tuned GM unit with Lotus mods or similar?

Why oh why was there never a V8 Omega????
Such a missed oppurtunity.
Look forward to the Cadillac ATS & ATS-V. Maybe a re-badged one will replace the Miggy as a RWD runner?

you'll be lucky to find a good LC engine. Problems: Blocks crack around the head bolt holes, head gaskest have to be made from std 24v ones, head bolts NLS, ARP kit ava at £250.00+, Timing chains weak and tensioners are NLS.
Turbos seals fail, not ava so have to be rebuilt, cooling system can be a problem, charge cooler pumps break up, have to use a pump from an outborad motor. thats just from the top of my head

Apart from that they are a great car and i don't thing anything from vauxhall will touch it and a good one will still see off an LS1, but leave the motor where its meant to be.

Your best bet would be to find an LS 'vetee and use the motor and box from that.

Good luck with it what ever you decide to do

Lots of probs with straight 6 GM lumps then. Suppose i could try and see what Lotus engines are around maybe V8 with a 6 speed box?
