Hi Louise, re: your powersounder. Please be aware that you should inform your Insurance Company that it is disconnected as you have effectively 'modified' the alarm system! If you don't, & are involved in an accident, then you are giving your Insurers a 'get of jail free card' & they wont pay out! :(

Have a read through the following thread L - it's a bit long and techy but worth sticking with;

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1278587831/0

Someone posted a price for a new sounder from Vaux. but I can't remember what it was :( - it wasn't terribly expensive though)

See reply number 6 on the following thread;

Its not a lot of agro to change the batteries. OK you have to cut it open, but that's about the hardest bit. There is something about getting batteries with the correct no of contacts; this doesn't matter too much, provided the batteries are connected together in the  same way they were before.

I was led to beleive they just wouldent payout if the car was stolen in that situation phil,but then again if it got nicked,who would know weather the powersounder works or not if it aint found. ::)

Hi louise,
Just do what I did and go to this guy. Everything he sells works as it should and after many buys i have never had a problem. Next Day delivery too! Its where I got mine from for the great price of 25.00 including postage. It came with the bracket, horn and sounder attatched - the complete unit :y

The problem with buying second hand is that most of these devices are failing or have failed now so it's a lottery whether it works and for how long it will do so. Especially so if it's been off the car for months on a shelf and the batteries have discharged.

I would cut open the old one and see if it has been damaged by battery leakage. If not, a new set of batteries will fix it. Otherwise, buy a new one or just remove it depending on your view of the insurance issue.

They have been known to catch fire, so, if refitting one, I would want to know it is in good condition. This means a new unit, or open it up and replace batteries if it's not too far gone.
