TalkTalk Broadband & VOIP
« on: 07 January 2008, 20:54:55 »

Is TalkTalk any good?  Online reviews are not good, to the point of bleak amusement.  ::)

Getting fed up with Sir Burns-me and want different package.  Pimper-net is masochistically slow, and they are faffing around with the cost of our phone.  TV is mediocre, but not sure there's much hope there.

BT Vision/Broadband looks nice but a little pricey for not many TV channels.  Would be happy with Broadband, TV, and VOIP, but still have to pay line rental?  :-?

Any suggestions?

It works. Most of the time.

Don't even think about reporting a fault. They won't listen to you even when you've paid through the nose to call their premium rate line.

Service is not bad, it is non existent.

BT Broadband is pretty reliable but the hub needs a reboot weekly.

The BT Vision box is £30 and you pay no more and it is a Freeveiw PVR, you can have TitsupTV or download some stuff with IPTV but play it right it is a free Freeview PVR

I have a WiFi router, but it looks like you need the Home Hub instead of the basic modem for the TV and VOIP phone.

Had Talk Talk for 1 month - speed fine (quicker than my prev. BT Broadband), sometimes disconnects but comes back on quickly.

Would recommend to have an in built wireless network card as opposed to usb adapter.
You can access voicemail by dialling 1571 but if you do this it buggers up your standard answering service on your phone. I recommend you deactivate talktalk voicemail and just let your phone's standard answer machine do it's job.

Overall it is ok.
Hope this helps.

Been on talk talk for about 2 years with no problems.  My Dad changed to then recently and changed his landline as well, and it took them a week to connect the landline but all ok now.

Thanks guys, we'll give TalkTalk a call.  They also have cheap international calls which is really useful for us.

What do you guys do for TV alongside?  Prolly just keep our naughty little virgin.

I use TalkTalk and it does what it says on the tin.

I've taken out their international package as the free calls abroad are very useful.
