Water pump
« on: 23 August 2010, 11:02:42 »

It looks like the water pump has thrown the towel in, is replacement an easy job? I have looked in the maintenance guide but cant find anything. And the car being the facelift 2.2 diesel means I cant get a book to help me. Is there any thing I should know before I start.    Cheers .  Just realised I need to remove the serpentine fan belt, but I don't know where the tensioner is. Can someone tell me please.

As luck would have it, i just did mine this weekend. Take off the drive belt and timing belt cover from the front of the engine to expose the timing belt. Rotate the engine (spark plugs out) until the notch on the main drive pulley aligns with the pointer and the two cams have their notches aligned with the relevant marks, Lock the cams before removing the timing belt, the water pump is held in by three hex bolts with washers on them, you may have to persuade the pump out of its housing, fit new one with a smear of silicon grease around the rubber seal to keep it in place.
