o2 reg 2.6 v6 oil in header tank

hi i have a o2 reg 2.6 v6 cd,runs fantastic no overheating,but noticed the water in the header tank is very slimey/oily took one pipe off it and that is like a milky substance,no signs of water on dipstick and oil cap is clean,as mentioned drives with no signs of overheating,can anyone help me please

From description, yes oil cooler, but oil in header tank is usually more obvious, has it had oil cooler cover plate re sealed perhaps? Maybe just a bit contaminated? Or early signs of failure.. :-/

Rule is

Oil in water, oil cooler.
Water in oil,(among other symptoms) head gasket.

oil cooler! have done an astra td at work this week,what a mess it took longer to clean up the radiator and water system than to change the oil cooler! ask any vauxhall parts dept they allways seem to have oil coolers on the shelf.....funny that!! have also done vectra 2.5 v6 in the last couple of months, no problems with it since :y

No point until you change the oilcooler.

And using it before you do risks nackering pipes, seriously blocking the rad etc

hi thanks got a oil cooler to pick up from euro car parts for £116.00 in the morning once ive fitted this can you tell me the best way to flush system out cheers
