Unusual beeps
« on: 30 August 2010, 17:54:42 »

I have a petrol 2.2 Omega cdx 2001 and just recently i have been getting 4 bleeps from under the bonnet when i switch the engine off. I thought it could be the alarm but i hadn't even left the car. It has only happened a couple of times within the last week but not every time.

Can anyone shed some light on what could be causing this please

Don't quote me on this as not 100% sure, but I think the Powersounder on the Alarm gives warning beeps when the batteries are getting to the end of their life? I understand they can leak & have caused vehicle fires in the past. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a definitive answer though  :y

^^ Exactly this.

Check this thread   http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1220198611 for a howto disconnect it before your car gets rather toasty.  :y

It's definately not the battery as i have 4 for the sound system and floats on 12.6v which has been in there quite a while. I think it is the sounder but i thought the 4 beeps might mean something like a pc when it has problems booting up as in an error code but i can't find anything in the hand book.
I play a lot of bass i may have shook something loose.

Phil means the power sounder's batteries, not the car battery  :y
