Sounds like a bag of spanners!
« on: 08 October 2010, 12:54:53 »

My old 2.5 V6 sounds very noisy at the top end when first started up, I would attempt to describe it but recall the 'dugga, dugga, dugga' thread so no way! The noise is like the tappets need adjusting, it improves after getting warm but can still be heard from time to time. I have to admit that I have been a little lax in the past with regular oil changes  :-[ :-[, it has had a change recently.
Suggestions, things to try, magic fixes?  :-/

use genuine vaux oil and filter if you havent already, if its been alot of miles before you did the recent change then there may be some permanent damage in that the noise will stay for good, run it for a couple of hundred miles on the vaux oil, and if need be after that stick in some stp treatment.

Did you replace the EGR with a new one, off a breaker or just blank it off?
