Fan vibration
« on: 29 September 2010, 21:58:04 »

When the cooling fan kicks in I get an oscillating vibration through the car and quite a drone, then when it goes off its fine so is there mounting rubbers or anything else?

Cheers

The cooling fans are quite simple to replace.

A small chip from the leading edge (usually) of one of the blades causes the imbalance.   :y

OK I now have some secondhand fans so what I need to know is do the aircon fans cut in as secondary cooling or is it just the single fan that does all the cooling just so I know whether to change them all or just the one to try and sort out the vibrations  :y

I'm pretty sure the ac fans only come on when the ac is on, thats why it runs a bit cooler because of the extra airflow through both the rads. The main cooling fan has 3 stages, low, medium and high depending on how hot the engine is
