Filter cap can be a right pain to remove. Have a bar ready for the end of the ratchet IMO.

BTW, I forgot to mention in the initial post that the temp gauge is not working at all, plum zero. Any ideas please?

The torque setting for the paper type filters is 14Nm I think, defo not as high as 25Nm!!

It is written on the cap itself.

You can bet the last muppet did it up to 10,000Nm though  >:(

Either the spade connector has dropped off sensor in the V of the engine, or the stat is shot.

Does it rise if left to idle after a run?

Start by checking the sensor is connected, it's located on the coolant bridge which is at the back of the engine, located between (joining) the heads.

I thought it was 5.75 litres of oil and 15nm for the oil filter cap ::)
