Yet more codes.
« on: 06 December 2010, 17:41:56 »

Right then.....pedal trick initially showed 0300 and 0305......I found that plug 5 is full of oil......now it is also showing 0306.....which I presume is a misfire on cylinder 6....which is on the other bank......I really hope that it is just a f**ked plug......and not another gasket failure.....

Does anyone know.....Do the coil packs fail very often?..... :( :(.

coil packs tend to fail around 100-120k...  ...usually a visual check will confirm.

Thanks TB.....mine is on 101,000.....If a  coil pack fails would it not affect all three cylinders ?

Nope, tends to affect just one.

But you need to visually check...

iirc from your previous thread, it was sugested that plugs seals and coil pac check be done on both banks !

If not done, although you now have a code in quick sucsession, its by no means suprising that the 246 bank now has a problem given the history...

....iiusc?

plus, also condsider, its common for lazy mechanics, vauxhall trained or otherwise, to not bother changing plug 6 at all as its a bit fiddly to get at, and have the plug disintegrate into the cylinder wrecking that as well.

Needs sorting asap imo!

I have just paid out for six plugs (£18)....and a genuine VX gasket set (£38)....for cylinders 1...3..5.

I noticed that the lump sounded even rougher than before ....so checked the codes again..an additional code....(0306)  Shit   !!!!!.The kids will be fine without presents this year....I'll tell them that santa died in a fatal sleigh crash.... ;) :y
