duff cam sensor symptons
« on: 04 January 2011, 23:27:39 »

Hi guys
The following symptons appeared on my 2003 2.2 CD with 30.176 miles on the clock.
The engine turns over and over and finally starts with the emissions light on or the engine check light on; never both.
After a short journey, It would re-start ok or not, especially  if I was running short on time. It stalled and refused to start on 2 occassions. Thanks to green flag for taking over 2  hours to turn out when it was -7 outside in the day time.
He reckoned my fuel pump was knackered!!
Not sure if I felt the auto gearbox was changing differently?
Power was reduced and some staggering experienced on a fast launch.
I bought the Autel MS509 engine scanner on flee-bay for under £60 and got a code of P0340.
I replaced the cam position sensor and the above  probs have  never re-appeared.
Nice "how to"  guide walked me thru-it.
Cheers
