I can't think exactly where you've dropped it, but you really don't want nuts rattling around inside your engine if you don't know exactly where it is.

Sounds to me like the larger breather tube rear passenger side of the head coming off the 90 degree cam cover tube. Have you tried an extendable magnet down there?

Sump is a lot of small bolts from underneath, Use Vx grey sealant (the kind for the V6 oil cooler) to refit but it needs 24 hours to go off properly. Which head studs? Cam covers? Head bolts?

[edit]to add - That breather tube unbolts at the bottom just above the sump. I'm not sure if there is a filter at the bottom. If not you could find the nut easier with the telescopic magnet ;)[/edit]

Exhaust fanimold studs are a complete dratsab to do! You need the head off, a good pillar dril, a good quality hss drill bit(several of) and a good quality stud extractor. Even then they are very difficult to do!

Just the sump below the breather tube. Try a big magnet on the underneath of the sump draging it around and up towards the breather tube and get a strong torch to see if you can see the nut getting dragged around.

I wouldn't risk it. The last thing you want is that nut getting thrown up behind a piston as it'll make a mess of it with very little effort!

A small tip about drilling out studs. I was trying to drill out a stud, centre punched it etc, but the drill went in at an angle and off centre. I used a small milling cutter, a slot drill to centre and widen the hole. These are meant to cut on their sides, so are ideal for this type of job. I think I used a plain HSS one, nothing fancy like carbide which are a bit fragile.
