Passed my MOT - Hurrah!
« on: 22 January 2008, 16:37:40 »

Took the car down for its Spanish MOT today having made the appointment over the Internet - how cool is that?

Each large town has an immaculate government run testing centre with lots of parking , air con in reception etc. Paid the money (33 euros). Waited for my reg to be called over the tannoy. It is like a production line and two technicians do the testing while you mostly sit in the car. Testing is very similar to in the UK. Emmissions are done at 2500 rpm.  the last bit is over a pit with nice uplighting and they shake the car vigourously, poke and prod and lever bits.

Result. PASS. two advisories. steering rack leak and exhaust a bit noisy. I know about the exhaust (it is where the down pipes meet the middle sections) easy fix until the next speedhump. I'll have to have a look at the rack - it can't be bad as the level hasn't changed much in the header bottle. Any one else had that problem?

What a relief, can get on with olive harvesting and pruning now. In the summer it will be cambelt and gearbox thrust washer time. GRRR

That was my interpretation! Actual words are "perdidas de aceite sin goteo" I'll have a look at the pipe connectors thanks.

Emisiones CO - 0.22%, acelerado 0.24%, Lambda 1.027 I wouldn't know if that was good or bad!
