I'll check in morning, but the day I looked inside the flap, the long, slim piece of shiny silver metal was protruding at the right level from the left. I imagine that was the locking pin. I'll check if thetre is any bfoken plastic part on the flap itself. If it is broken plastic part, is that part available to buy ?

Thanks

If you're lucky there might be a car being broken on the forum in the same colour as your car.  ;) ;)

I see, if plastic broken ..............replace entire flap.

Car is Maroon / wine. Is it Rubens Red ?

Seen photo of a member's car on forum same colour as mine and it was described as Ruben's red.

Which section do I use please to ask for a flap ( if that is the problem ) or search fro a red car being broken up please ?

Lock removed....all you see in the boot is the 2 screws and part of the motor

Pin in unlocked position

Thank you.

Pics are a great help....... that WAS the locking pin, I saw and slid away the other day. I'll try the old flap open and lock and unlock the car routine.

Might be the receiver as kindly pointed out to me. I take it that is the plastic is broken, I'll have to replace the entire flap ?
None the right colour on e-bay so may go to the For Sale Forum to see if anyone is breaking.

Gents, thank you all for your prompt responses and advice.
I'll let the forum know how I get on.

Rob,

You were typing as I was. Armed with all the advice give, I'll look at the car tomorrow and hopefully solve it.

Thank you

Couldn't wait.

Went out into the night armed with my torch.

My hopes were dashed when I saw that the receiver is an integral part of the flap.

The pin was sticking out enough for me to give it a couple of gentle twists to and fro and hey presto, it's working again.

I'll lubricate it in the daylight.

Thanks folks.

Rob,

On the inside of the flap is what i can only describe as a metal lug with hole through it painted the same colour as the flap/car and at the right level with the pin. It is an integral part of the flap. I think that must be where the pin goes through to lock the flap. Everything on the flap and on the bodywork ( attached with 2 screws, housing the pin ) appeared intact. A couple of hopeful and gentle twists on the pin, seems to have solved it tonight. I'll lubricate the pin in the morning and fingers crossed I'll have complete a wee job with you guys helping me and not gone staright to a garage as I would have done 6 months ago.

Take care.
