brake pad wear warning?
« on: 17 February 2011, 13:11:12 »

i have just replaced the front discs and non vx pads on my omega 2.2, and a week or so after the brake pad warning shows on my display. i have removed the sensor wire due to being damaged but the warning still on. what else causes it to display? there seems to be only 1 sensor wire on the car, (non on driver side) and cant see one on rears. please help. thanks. :'(

Refit the ensor wire but cut the pad end off & join the two wires together. The message appears when the sensor wears though & the circuit goes open circuit.  :y

No sensors fitted to the back on any Omega and just the one at the front on very late Omegas  :y

Unless the fiendish one above is wrong, you have a fault elsewhere in the circuit then.  :-/

You mentioned wiring damage .... try unplugging the sensor completely then bridgeing the car-side connector with a bent paper clip ... if that works then the wiring from the sensor to where you have joined the wires has a break in it. :)

I know that late cars only have the one sensor, but I've no idea when the cut-off date is.  :-/

ok then if it is only one sensor do what entwood suggested and unplug the sensor from its connector and then bridge out the contacts in the connector itself this will prove that either the sensor wire is knackered or if warning still on there is an open circuit futher up the wiring

or you could pick up a new sensor for a fiver from a motor factor?  then it still tells you when your pads need renewing!
(unless you don't fit them and leave them in your glove box like me.... )
