D2S xenon hids
« on: 01 March 2011, 22:34:56 »

My n/s bulb went, or so I thought until I put the new one in. Put it in and all was good, still good this morning then this evening I put the lights on and the same bulb failed to light and I got dash warning. Switched off and back on and it worked again. It also seems to glow ever so slightly dimmer.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Was it a branded bulb or an ebay cheapie. If the latter, it may be the bulb :'(

If the former... Possibly ballast pack or wiring

I got ebay cheapies for a very good reason. get back to that in a mo.
I suspect ballast pack as the old bulb used to ping on and straight off. My understanding is that if the bulb has had it, it becomes an incomplete circuit and therefore would not even flash on for a second.
This is why I got cheap bulbs, also the other side is perfect with bulb from same pack. I need a whole new headlight unit really as mine was cleaned with a rough pad which ruined the lens. So I don't mind what the problem is as it will be changed soon, just wanted bulbs to get me through MOT 1st.

Just the existence of self doubt and underestimation of logical thinking.
Off to do a wanted post  ;D
