Centre Console Electrics
« on: 21 February 2011, 17:35:18 »

Hi All
Odd sudden failure to all of the electrics on the Centre Console of my 2.0 CDX Auto? (W Reg 2000)

All the Climate Control buttons, Heated Rear Window, ECO, Recycle, heated Seats are not working?? NO LIGHTS  OR FUNCTIONS AT ALL  :-?
But Stereo, Hazards and Cigar Lighters are  :-/

All seemed to fail at at the same time, driving normally with no changes to any other part of the car.
(Also my exterior temp gauge is reading sub-tropical at 30.5 Degrees C! could that be connected?)

I have checked the fuses. All seem OK?
Is there a relay that controls the electrical supply to that area of the dash, or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thoughts appreciated guys as I am not sure where to start looking!!!

Very odd as there are very few common points or fuses that could do that. So, nothing is functioning related to the centraly controled functions....are the door locks etc ok?

Yep, very odd?
According to the manual. fuse F14 protects all those functions + Power Steering - and thats working fine?
Door locks, elec sunroof, wipes, lights etc.. all OK?
I had to replace the Stereo recently and the wiring had been butchered but managed to figure it out and replaced some of the wiring. But that was month ago.
The only thing was that I tried using the rear Cigar Lighter (Phone charger) the centre sprung pin of the charger had fallen out, just wondered if that may have a connection??

Gonna' have another look this morning and report back.
Ideas appreciated

SORTED  ;D

1. Dropped Fuse Box down and identified that one of the wires had worked lose  :o
STILL NOT WORKING  :(
2. Checked fuse, seemed OK - replaces with a newer one
ALL WORKING FINE  :)

What is odd that according to the Manual and Vauxhall the 'Power Steering' is also protected by the same fuse but that was working fine  :-? so maybe it is on a different circuit on 1999-2000 Pre-Facelift Models.
Useful for reference  :y

Fuse blew again, can anyone advise on why there may be a loading on that particular circuit?
Had the ECO and Recycle on, temp at 26 degress, fan at 5?
?????

Its probably worth checking that no wires have been trapped when the radio was removed.

Will do, but it has been fine for 6 months?
Air con works perfect, heater could be hotter (needs new HBV) Streo which is  Kenwood DEH is great (naff on MW)

Only other thing is I tried to plug in the 12v Mobile charger but the centre pin came out,  also tried the rear cigar lighter?
Could that have done anything to do with it?

FIXED AT LAST  :D
Issue:  :o
All electrics on centre console kept going off, Fuse F14 kept blowing?
Problem: :(
Small Chrome ring that must have come from a charge of some sort was in the rear cigar lighter and shorting from live to earth. Once removed no problems at all!
 :) :) :)
