Can anyone point me in the right direction of a reasonably priced propshaft, mine has decided it doesnt want to be in the car.  local motor factors dont sell them and dont want to get secondhand as i dont want it going again soon

thanks

Prop shaft would normally be considered a vehicle life item, so I'm not surprised motor factors dont do them. Your only choice for new would be vaux or having one made to spec by a prop saft maker like Bailey Morris. Both will cost you dearly.

But bearing the above in mind - that they are generally considered a vehicle life item, and the vast majority happily last that long, you should have no problem with a used one. Ideally go for one with as low mileage as possible and inspect the joints yourself for wear.

A middle ground compromise could be to buy any old scrapper item, then have the joints rebuilt by the aforementioned specialist (assuming meggy prop UJs are the rebuildable type - dunno, never checked).

Typed "vauxhall omega propshaft" on ebay and it came up with about 10 secondhand ones for sale. Prices varied between £15 and £40, but all were for 2.0, 2.5 or 2.6. I don't know if 2.5 is different to 3.0?
