initially i thought the same........but then started looking at the engine bay.
everything is very clean, and by that i mean things like the brake fluid reservoir, the cover for the cruise looks brand new, the feed for the EGR looks new.

I know they have washed it, but none of the ancillaries have rust or any real signs of mileage on them, that.s what led me to believe this is an 18,000 miler.
plus they have all the history on the car as well

hmm think i'd be suspicious, cleanliness is nothing, engine is wet, so it couldhave just been steam cleaned, the header tank is a bit murky! service history is nothing to go by genuine mileage, it means nothing, ask for past MOTs

Cat C can effect the resale by upto 25% :(

Make that 50% and you will be nearer the mark, that amount of damage on a 9 yearold car is way too much, spares only in my opinion.

well i emailed the chap and offered £500, he refused...not that i was surprised........

I have told him my offer stands for 30 days, if i could get it then it would go back on the road, i have 90% of the bits to repair and a bodyshop who rekon they could sort it all out and repaint half of the car for a reasonable sum.

As a cat C it might only be worth 50% of its value but the purpose was to gas it and use it as a replacement for the Elite, that would last well over 100k miles more and if i only got £500 for it then i wouldn't be upset, as Hotel21 said if the job is done well (which it would be) then it would be as safe as any other car out there and we have worked out we could bring the whole lot in at about 2K including gas kit VIC check tax and MOT.

I doubt he will get rid of it easy, it has been on the web for over 5 months now, in fact it is still on another website at £850!!!

http://www.douglasvalley.co.uk/item.asp?prodid=614&spg=41&pgid=1

it would be a shame to break, and it wouldn't make a grand if it was broken, however i will not move from what i have offered.

the ball is back with the seller
