New Owner
« on: 10 April 2011, 19:47:32 »

Just bought a 2.5 Td Elite Manual Estate.
Someone I know went to look and he said it was a straight looking car. The owner has said that one of the front tyres is a little low, I thought he meant pressure from a slow puncture or lip seal on the alloy gone but he said in a mail that it was the tread?? What would cause just the tread on one of the fronts to be less than the other. I've just read the thread about tyre wear etc but it doesn't mention anything about one sided wear, any of the experts out there shed some light for me? Am I going to have to replace things, to me that means doing both sides just to make sure.

Cheers in advance for your replies.

Is the wear even, if wear on the edges it may be tracking or wish bones, It may be an older tyre , did he replace them bothe new

Aah, not sure, y'see I bought this sight unseen as I'm in the middle of the Indian Ocean, hence asking a member of another forum (ABS) to have a look for me.
I'm on here now to ask what questions I should be asking, that one about old tyres will do for starters. Thank you, really just wondering if anyone had this problem and knew what the fix was without me having to get into diagnostic mode when I get back ;)

:-[ tech1 then. You know what I meant. Yes indeed I will have to get my finger out. I think I'll be home sometime around the 21st, then it's of to Scotland on the 10th for 10 days, so I would be looking to try to get to you before I go North mate.
