Change of oil filter type
« on: 23 June 2012, 15:16:48 »

Phew yust finished reading the cam belt thread. I have a very slight weep of oil which I think is coming from the joint of cannister to block. I have bought all items to either put new seal at base of cannister or to change to a screw on filter, Any thoughts on the best way to go,

My understanding is that the cartridge/cannister filter has a larger surface area than the spin on type but I can't see it being significantly different :-\ if you do regular oil changes it shouldn't make much difference anyway ;)

I have stuck with the cartridge filter on my 2.6 - because it is already there, because I can see if there are any metal particles on the outside of the filter and because I can change it without getting a filter full of oil either up my sleeve or down the side of the block.

If the cap ever seizes than I might revise my position............
