Water Leak
« on: 01 May 2011, 22:32:46 »

Water leak Problem.

Hi, I am new to this forum and hoping some kind sole can help. I have an Omega Elite 02/52 3.0 Saloon. I have noticed the rear passenger carpet is wet and it seems dump under the passenger front seat as well.

Firstly, I have cleaned the drain holes at both sides under the bonnet. They are running free.

Secondly, I have opened the sun roof and poured water down all four drain holes. They seem to be running free as well. I will point out that I probably poured around 8 litres of water into each hole.
After about 2 - 3 minutes I noticed the carpets were starting to show water marks. The water seems to be dripping from the top of the A Piller and also running down the piller to the dash and on to the foot well carpets.

Can I ask if there could be a leak in the drains? Did I pour too much water which would cause this or are the pipes capable of taking this much water.

She is such al lovey immaculate car with only 20k miles on her. I really would appreciate any help to cure this leak.

Thanks in advance to any one with a suggestion.

Welcome to the forum,

I have only had estates but i would think that was to much water, but the leak was there before you put the water down the drains yes, the carpets were wet before, was this before you cleaned the scuttle drains as they are the normal pests.

02/52 seems very late for a 3.0ltr saloon should be a 3.2 me thinks or was this one late to have areg put on it. :-?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The leak was there before I poured the water. But only in the passenger rear floor. I am sure I have poured too much water,

The real issue is probably the wet carpet in the rear and where the water is comming from. All the drains seem to be clear. Assuming there are only 4 drain holes in the sun roof.

Thanks Ian d

I would think you will get your answer soon from the saloon drivers on here, but it's a new one on me. Front foot well N/S normal for scuttle drain N/S and drivers side matrix O'seals but rear :-/ :-/

It was a long time ago, but I vaguely remember it may have been either the door seal or the membrane behind the door card which was letting in water. :-/

Check around the rubber door seal as well. It could be split/worn etc. ;)
