code 19 paper clip test

just done ppc test & got code 19
the question i need to ask is does the code clear its self when new part fitted?
i changed crank sensor 2 years ago would that code still be there?

No! Should clear after a certain number of clean starts I believe. Clear with reader to be belt n braces.

What sensor was fitted, is the car playing up?

i have not fitted sensor just wanted to know if it was a new fault or not car keeps cutting out when i pull up to lights etc which is a bit hairy with an auto

my car would not start sometimes when hot, advised on here crank sensor, changed it myself and its been fine since. has yours gone again ? as the code should go. i have no fault codes after changin mine

I had exactly the same as windowman, fitted new crank sensor, 30 mins later happy days, :y

not sure weather the sensor i had fitted 2 years ago was genuine vx or not but 2 years approx 4k milage it has not lasted that long is this normal?

That's why I asked, that's either an unusually good pattern or a possibly poorly fitted genuine maybe? Is the cable away from a heat source, heat shield maybe ?

Just to be overly clear, make sure the next one is genuine  ;)

when you do get a new one.. fit it yaself, guys on here advised me how and im no mechanic, but it was easy and you can run the cable where you want it, ie away from all the really hot stuff. which i believe causes the problem in the first place... i got the part off ebay . genuine part. cheaper than main dealer.just check part numbers first

Yea it sounds like the crank sensor, im now on my 4th one in 2 years and they were all genuine ones from vauxhall :'(

I had a vx genuine one last 6 months. Replaced FOC, new ones been ok for 12 months and 30k miles so far.
