State Of The Art Wheel Alignment
« on: 16 January 2008, 20:19:03 »

While at Donnington on Sunday at the OOF meets ABS gathering we got talking about wheel alignment and i mentioned that a good friend of mine has just spent several thousand pounds purchasing the latest state of the art equipment and was asked to find out a bit more info and post up, so here goes
The equipment will measure and enable the operator to adjust every possible component to do with wheel alignment if the adjusters are fitted, these include, tracking, castor and camber on both the front and rear wheels of the car and wll align the front wheels to the rear thrust line, etc etc.
I was asked to find out some pricing and having spoken to John these are as follows to members :-
For a check of the total alignment and a front tracking he will charge us £25 and to keep costs down if any other adjustments are needed he will charge a further £10 per adjustment. This is all computerised and it is this that shows the adjustments needed so you know that there is no "bullshit figures" and to this end, a fully printed picture readout is passed onto the costomer of both the before and after adjustments.
Having had my omega done a few months ago all i can say is it transformed the road holding and ride of my car and is highly recomended and money well spent.
If anyone would like any further info then Johns details are as follows

Contact John quoting the OOF and my name at the following address

If Admins wish to move this post to another area please feel free as i was not sure where to best post this one

Hope this info will help some of our members  :y

I had to take my daughter to Loughborough for the day on Saturday, so, as I needed a steering and suspension geometry check, I gave John Sykes a try.

I am glad I did, I have yet to find any garage / tyre fit more helpful. The care in setting up was obvious, he explained how the equipment checked everything, and what was the problem with my car, didn't mind you in the workshop watching and asking questions or getting in the way. The perseverence he had in trying to loosen the tie rods to adjust the front and rear geometry was commendable.

You get a before and after pictorial printout for information
The cost is very reasonable. Mine was £35.00 to adjust both front and rear tracking.
The difference was almost unbelievable. The steering wheel is now absolutely central, and I can let go of the steering wheel and car continues straight ahead. it used to veer left.

It is a small workshop, but I had a big welcome. They even made me a cup of tea!!
It was well worth the visit.
I wish there was a place like this in Southampton.
