First turn of the key.....   ......  No, really, I mean it....    Fired up good as gold... like it had never been apart having open heart and brain surgery...

James should rightly feel a little smug I reckon.

It's a good feeling when they do that after major surgery.

Well done.

yeah, actually, despite having a direct replacement.....  there was the slightly bizarre thought of having matching motors for each day of the week as a target :D

i nearly seriously offered him a grand for it....   but figured he'd put so much effort in to this, that he deserved to reap the joys of it....

I just hope he got back to cardiff okay in it as it's maiden voyage....  !

I figure he'd have called if he had a problem....

before he went, he had it running for about an hour.... it seemed to be behaving impeccably.... no over pressurising of the coolant, no serious bubbling   like, it probably had a fubarred head gasket last year.....  that it took this long to get this bad....   is actually quite impressive/...

I drove to Cheltenham in the end, Cardiff was too far as I have work at 6am.

I am indeed feeling very pleased (but not smug - I've worked on enough V6's now :D )

The key to it firing up with no fault light was a thorough check of all the connectors before turning the key.

This is one VERY sweet V6. Behaved perfectly all the way home, no coolant problems or loss. Would leave my facelift standing  :'(

Only a couple of very minor issues to sort out now, but that can happen at leisure. There is a very occasional and slight lifter tap. I expect it to bed in, but it will have oil and filter tomorrow because it looks due :y

I'll post up rebuild pics etc tomorrow, too tired now... :)
