A/C problem
« on: 17 June 2011, 13:30:42 »

I reported an incident of total instrument failure on 12 June and Broomies Mate correctly identified the problem as Fuse 15 but a new fuse blew almost immediately the engine was started. We found that the fuse did not blow with the A/C off but failed as soon as it was switched on. With the engine running and the electric connection to the  A/C compressor disconnected, no problem. As soon as the compressor was reconnected the fuse blew again. The compressor looked U/S so we fitted a new one, re gassed and still have the same problem. It’s getting expensive now and any ideas would be welcome

Well, the compressor clutch is powered by fuse 29, not 15, so I'm not sure why that made a difference.

A common fault for fuse 15 is chafed wiring to the seat heaters under the front seats. It powers so many devices that tracking a fault down is not easy. It's been done on here before in some detail so a search might give you a few things to check.

Fuse #15 also controls the a/c fans as I found out when it totally knocked out mine the other dayand all instruments also failed

Worth checking fans are not the cause of the problem .
