Fuel filter connectors
« on: 23 June 2011, 09:28:48 »

Hi,
I've broken the fuel filter connectors while trying to replace the fuel filter. Are these connectors just a push fit to the fuel pipes. Also, will it be ok to jubilee clip a piece of rubber fuel hose between pipe and filter until I find a replacement.
Thanks,
Mike.

I have rubber pipe on mine. When I first had the car somebody had put red rubber 'gas' pipe on. This eventually split and I have replaced it with proper petrol pipe. So far I have had no further problems.

Thanks for the reply.

I've just fixed the new filter to the old fuel lines with some petrol pipe and some tefen elbow hose connectors.

No petrol leaks yet.....

The fuel filter clips are a bugger to get out even with the correct tool.  >:(

Replacement clips use to come with the fuel filter if they were bought from Vauxhall but they appear to have stopped supplying them.

However, my local Vauxhall dealer always have them in stock so the are easy to obtain and well worth keeping a few in stock for future use.

Really?  I would concede the estates have the fuel filter in a daft place though...

Don't think they ever did (certainly I've always had to buy seperately, but I went through a non-Vauxhall era from around 92 to 2000), but when you used to have decent people on the parts desk, they used to offer them..
