2.5td Lacking in power. Problem!
« on: 22 July 2011, 00:13:30 »

I have a 1996 2.5td omega which is seriously lacking in power in the day time in warm air but at night this car is way faster. I know there is a difference in preformance with cold air but there shouldnt be as much a difference as i am having. The map sensor is gone in the car but the garage says this wouldnt cause it. Is there anything els like the air intake valve that could be affecting this?
Thanks guys :)

maf can cause all sorts of things to happen, unplugged it and tried it yet?
when ever you get a fault like this its always better to go back to basics, change all filters, and oil, fill fuel filter with a can of diesel magic, and then top up with diesel, fit it and run car for ten mins at around 2000rpm, this should clean ut any crap in the fuel system, when all this is done, then you know the basics are right,
my first thought would be a sticky egr valve, but you eed to eliminate the basics first :y

If there are any fault codes, you need to resolve them first, as the ECU will be trying non-optimal workarounds.

From there, getting some live data should show whats happeneing...

Have oil and fuel filter done. Also have new oil. Put castrol in it. The sensor is plugged in but the pipe is broke off the bottom of it.
This is a link to it. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1305496087/4#
Its the only problem I can find.

I have two omegas one of them is like this http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/255/dsc00015n.jpg/

My omega with the problem has an electric box Just where the silver clip is on the air filter. Could that be gone?

if the pipe is broken its never going to sense boost!!! so it cant put extra fuel in for the turbo as it dont knw the turbo is blowing, think you ought to fix it !!
