Tyre Pressures.
« on: 29 July 2011, 14:28:56 »

Appreciate what it sais in the manual but we're off to the continent tomorrow with wife and daughter, hence the old car will be FULL of a whole load of crap that will more than likely never be needed.

Equally, because I'm a tight git and having hugely over spent on our California/Nevada trip of last year, which we're still paying for, I'm taking a few cases of beverages courtesy of Macro.

Currently got the fronts at 34psi, rears at 36.

Should that do it ?

Running 235/17/45's on Vectra C wheels.

My saloon, fully laden, gets:

36-38 Fr
43-45 R

Be aware, the back end is quite skittish if run like this with little load in!

Normal use:
32 all round

Your front could do with a few psi more and the rear plenty more! (like 6-8 more!)

Last weekend was the first towing test for mine so checked and set the front @ 38Psi and the rears @ 45 Psi. Me, the missus, 2 kids, full boot, bike rack and the caravan hitched up. Only noticed when i pulled onto the sandy/gravelly site that i had 3/4" of non-dusty tyre - inside and outside edges on both front & rear. This indicated to me that the pressures were way, way over. Going away next weekend and going to drop front and back by 5 Psi....so aiming for 33 Psi front and 40 Psi rear.
