water in bores - again
« on: 25 August 2011, 14:52:14 »

Hello, I have taken off the other head to find the bores there too full of water. With the symptoms I had I was expecting to find something glaringly obvious, like a hole in cylinder head, or at least a big part of the gasket burned away. It was disappointing to find that only a small part seemed to have deteriorated, about 30mm length of the steel inner part had eroded away, but the side opposite the cylinder, although the ring was still intact except for an 8mm section that had give way. The problem is, it may have got like that as I took the head off. The two head bolts for that cylinder were not quite as tight as the others, but certainly not loose. Could an 8mm section of dislodged gasket be responsible for all that water?
