Auto anti dazzle mirror
« on: 17 August 2007, 00:02:38 »

Any one know whether the photochromatic anti dazzle mirror from my '94 2.5td Elite will fit my '00 2.5td CD. I currently have the std manual anti dazzle. I doubt whether the electrical repositioning will work but will it actually fit and function ok as far as staying where it is positioned and auto dimming ?

as far as i know it will fit, the electrical repositioning will not work as that is part of the seat memory and i believe only the Elites had that function.
Yes it will still auto dim, you will need to wire it into the the car and it will not move unless you move it yourself.
such a cool mod, makes night driving so much more pleasant

You'll never get the positioning to work, but the autodip will if you connect up 4 wires...

A smidging more restrictive when looking to the left and slightly above horizontal(eg. when looking at House No's etc) than the std manual dip mirror, but I'm splitting hairs on that. The "easier on the eyes" night driving far out weighs any hardship of occasionaly having to look under the mirror.
What are the four wires to conect and are they already in position (ie. just conect them up) or will I have to route the wiring up, and if so...from where ?
Cheers me deers.

...Doh !
Just noticed the location of the wires are on previous posts. One question though, what is the best way to route the one from passenger kick panel ?

Also Re: Cruise Control upgrade.
I have cruise on my 2.5TD Elite ('94).  Will that stalk fit and function on my 2.5TD CD ('00). I have been advised that is all there is too it, but I can't remember whether I mentioned the donor car is a pre-facelift
(I still can't get my head around the fact that retro fitting cruise control is as easy as swapping the stalk !! :o)

run wire down passenger A post stright to kick panel.

Yes, stalk will fit and work - all 2.5TDs take the 2 wire stalk (all other engines need the 4 wire stalk)
