Easy enough job tut

Remove the stereo, the screw behind, the ashtray & the two screws behind that.
feel up through the stereo hole, find the metal bar & pull down. That releases the top of the panel. If I remember from mine, there is 4-5 bulbs

I'm sure theres a how to somewhere

it is only the digits that do not light up, will this cure it? all buttons are lit.

5 bulbs - 1 each for the individual LCDs, 2 for all the backlights via lightguides

Had to take car in for something else, while the garage had it they looked at the air con bulbs they said they were all working fine. but still no illumination behind the digits they told me the main air con control panel was faulty and would cost around £700 quid to replace. Do you have any idea or thoughts on this? was thinking of looking on  ebay for a whole new unit?

Not a problem I've come across before.  Before taking their word for it, worth checking connector at back of unit, and testing the bulbs yourself.

In which case it is failed bulbs......remove it and replace them, there are 5 but, some are harder to spot than others.
