i know these dont like CDRs so i was wondering what is the best way to have another input such as a memory card reader or usb or mp3 player type thing, that gets controlled through the headunit?

Theres not.  Cassette adpater or FM modulator is only option

looks like a new HU would be the best option...

looking at the the Clarion DUZ388RMP, obviously id need a facia adaptor to make it fit - anyone have any pictures of this particular model installed?

would the radio data bit of the data computer and stering wheel  controls still work?

you can pick up the first gen ones for a pretty reasonable price on the 'bay at the moment if youre lucky. depends if you want the hassle of wiring it in though i guess.

Which if a reasonable quality one will still not be the weak link in an MP3 setup.....
