Climate control digital displays.
« on: 23 December 2008, 20:32:53 »

Quick Question, Got a 1998 S 2.5 V6 AUTO Saloon CDX (Mini Facelift), everything works great, but one thing annoys me.

The digital displays for the climate control are not back lit, you can see the digits, but have to turn the interior light on to see them at night, both the drivers and passengers are the same.

Are they meant to be lit? or have both the blubs gone or is there a way of turning them up and down, the controls for the other dash lights have no effect on these.

cheers, didn't want to start pulling the dash apart till I've checked everything.

Word of advise...when you find the "T" bar it is worth putting a cable tie or piece of string on it,as it makes life easier when you need to remove it again..also save skinning knuckles as is quite a tight fitting..well it was on mine.

Just to add one thing, I have just replaced all the bulbs in my climate control unit with led's using the very helpful guide. The bit I wanted to add was I found it quite difficult to remove the bulbs until I unclipped the complete PCB from the unit, it was then very easy. hth

All 5 bulbs are very easily accessible, no need to remove pcbs or plastic back?

LEDs don't work that well in Omegas due to the way the light guides are designed.

I seem to be missing a lamp/bulb in mine. The 3rd from left (screen/feet/face/etc) only lights up with the lights on ..... & not lit when just the ign is on. I can't even see a duff/missing lamp.  :'(

3 bulbs used to light each of the 3 digital displays. Other 2 bulbs illuminate the controls via lightguides - so 1 covers left 2 circles, other does the right 2...

Thanks Jamie. That's why I couldn't fix it ... it wasn't broke!  :y
That just leaves a lamp each for the centre & passenger side vents.  :y  :y  :y

Thanks. As the car doesn't get used much/enough I only noticed today when I was driving it in the dark.  :y  :y
