Is this something I could retro fit to my pre-facelift?

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

My key doesn't have a boot release button.

Sometimes it would be nice, like with the example of releasing it from inside while its pissing it down.

Also I might want to blank off the handle because it looks crap on mine. It doesn't have a badge and it's something of an eyesore when I look at the rear of the car.

What would you put in the handle's place?

You could try a facelift bootlid, but think you may hit hassle around the lights.  You'd need to change central locking ECU, and its not a direct swap.

Its a lot of effort for no real gain....

Yeah I knonw it's a lot of effort. It just caught my eye and got me thinking.

If anything I would blank off the handle.

I thought about a facelift boot but I don't like the lights; they're too angled and I prefer the rounder style pre facelift lights on mine now.

All fixed!! needed the 2 sec hold!! :y

It works with 1. Engine on 2. Engine off 3. All off and key out!

Thats the good thing about the forum,i didn't know about the change on later cars,my other was a 2001 on a Y plate with the other set up!
Good old OOF!!
