Heater pad has probably burnt out, have you got cloth or leather?

leather. I believe that the seat has never been switched on talking to the previous owner. (that was vauxhall, this was one of their show cars) hence the low mileage. What do I if the pad has burned incidentally. Other suggestions would also be welcome

guide below. Check the heated seat pad wiring and see if its open loop. If so its the pad. The guide below shows the process and tbh paints a very dim picture of the process. Reason being he does not have the correct tools. Hog ring pliers and rings can be had from BMW dealers. These are essential. I should add i have not done an omega seat. I have done a BMW seat, cloth and Alcantara. With 2 of us and the correct pliers it went very well. We also changed the seat foam as the side bolsters had broken down. Swapped the heated seat pad and its now good as new.

also find it strange that the backrest and the base do not heat. If one didn't work then I would understand that the heat pad had burnt out. Any advice welcome

it's because they're wired in series. If one goes open circuit, then effectively you've lost both elements.

I have done both my Omega & the similar Senator seat, and you can manage quite easily with a pair of long/snipe nose pliers.  :y

Take the cover off the base & have a look, it'll cost you nowt. Mine (Omega & Senator) were burnt out just after the wiring connects to the very fine heating element. I cut a coupe of inches of the burnet element out & soldered back to the wiring & so far .... touch wood) 5-sih years later I still have 4 heated seats.
If that fails you can always fit one of the seperate heat pads (Vauxhall or generic) from a fabric upholstered car under the leather.
Orrrrr! You can dig deep & fit a new leather cover! :-? ££££££££££££££'s  :y

Like I said. Take the seat out & look. If you don't fix it..... you're in the same position as you were before  ...... with a cold bum!  :y  :y  :y

Fair enough but its important the rings are round and not tear drop shaped or pointed. Or your risk feeling the rings poking through the cover with the hard ribs under them. It is considerably easier with the correct tool.

The point is dont let job put you off. Its is very doable diy. If indeed it is the pad thats gone.
